The Black Pearl

Welcome to the web site for the sailing vessel Black Pearl.  The Black Pearl is a Norseman 447.  The boat was built in 1983 by the Ta Shing shipyard in Taiwan to a design by naval architect Bob Perry of Seattle, Washington.  There were 70 Norsemans built in the 10 years of production.

Paul & Georgie Sage found their Norseman on a boat-hunting trip that stretched from home in Galveston, Texas, west to Seattle, north to Grand Rapids, east to Annapolis, and south to Ft. Lauderdale.  The search took about a year, and made every business trip or family vacation or long weekend more fun, because there were always boats to look at.  They found the boat in Annapolis, and sailed it to Tampa Bay, where they are spending another year readying the boat and casting off commitments ashore.

Georgie is retired from 30 years of teaching high school English, at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas and Paul is retired from 30 years in the tire and chemical business.
